“Non-Traditional” Wedding Dessert Ideas

June 11, 2020

Traditionally at weddings in the past the only option for dessert was a wedding cake, now as the years have gone on they still have cake but have also incorporated cupcakes into the mix (because cutting the cake for 200+ people is over rated). In the past couple years there is one trend we’ve started to see with just about every bride and groom, and that is that they are over “traditional wedding” details! Personally I start to get sick of cake at weddings, especially when I’m at my 16th wedding of the summer, cake defiantly starts to get old. Dessert is a great place to start if you are working towards making your special day a unique experience for your guests to remember!

If you are in the same boat as us and are over wedding cake, check out some of the idea’s below (trust me you are going to want to scratch the traditional wedding cake idea after this blog post, or maybe just want to go bake some cookies!)

Assorted Pies

I don’t think anyone can resist some homemade pie with a little cool whip! Apple, cherry, blueberry, rhubarb, pumpkin, so many options, so you are sure to have something that everyone will enjoy!

S’more Station

Perfect idea for an outdoor wedding! Sometimes being outside on a cool summer night makes you want a S’more and a campfire! This little set-up is a perfect way to get that same vibe but without the smelly campfire!

Donut Wall

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I don’t think there is ever a bad time to eat a donut! Not only are they a yummy treat but there are so many display options when it comes to donuts!

Macarons are a great bite size option for you and your guests! Change up the flavors, and colors to your liking, and enjoy!

Milk & Cookies

I don’t know about you but I am 100% a sucker for milk and cookies, and I’m sure that I’m not the only one. No one can turn down a melted chocolate chip cookie with a side of milk! Not the fanciest dessert choice but definitely a crowd pleaser!

Mini Cheesecakes

If cheesecake is your thing, we say go for it! It’s something different that you probably won’t see any where else. These little cups are the cutest and look delish!

Ultimately your wedding is supposed to showcase your relationship as Mr & Mrs so add touches to it that make is more personal and about you guys! We like to say all traditional rules to a wedding have been put on the back burner, so do what you want!
