How To Throw The Best Backyard BBQ Of The Summer!

May 21, 2020

After a few long months, it’s finally time to start thinking about gatherings, parties, and weddings! I don’t know about you, but I am ready to get dressed up (in something other than my sweatpants) and have somewhere to go! Planning events can be a lot, but when it comes to hosting them in your own home it can be even more stressful. In this blog post we are going to talk about some easy, fun ways to bring those small events (maybe those which are in your very own backyard) to the next level by giving you the resources to throw the party that everyones been waiting for!

Step One: FOOD!

They say everyone comes for the food, right? (and drinks of course, but we will get to that in a little bit) That doesn’t mean you should over think this part–this is a backyard bbq, keep it relaxed. Everyone loves a good burger, brat, or hotdog, just add some condiments, and some side dishes and your good to go! Another great option would be to reach out to some caterers in our area, because let’s be real– cooking isn’t everyones thing.

Step Two: DRINKS!

This is the part everyone actually comes for, so have some fun with it! Having the drinks pre-made before the party starts is always a good idea, you want to enjoy yourself as a host as well, so don’t set yourself up to be everyone’s bartender! You are going to want to have a few alcoholic, and a few non-alcoholic/mocktail options for your guests so here are a few recipes ideas that I’ve found to be a hit!

Alcoholic Options:

Strawberry Whiskey Lemonade

Berry Beer Punch

Watermelon Mojitos

Mocktail Options:

Mai-Tai

Margarita’s (Non Alcoholic)

Virgin Sangria

Step Three: DECOR

Decorating is personally my favorite part of planning a party, but it’s not for everyone so here are a few tips! You don’t need it all, especially considering this is a casual backyard BBQ. Start with your linens… some simple tablecloths are a great way to add a pop of color to the party. Another way to add some color to your backyard is in the centerpieces, get in contact with a local florist get creative (or ask them to get creative!). Last, but not least, add some character and make your event memorable by finding a few unique pieces (ex: whiskey barrels, signs, etc.).

Step Four: EXTRA’s

Don’t over think dessert! Everyone loves a S’more, just set everything out and let your guests do the work!

Washing your hands has always been important, especially now more than ever. Eliminate the amount of trips in and out of your house and set up a cute little hand-washing station outside! You only need a few things, just think about all the sticky fingers from all the S’more’s being had (this is a must have if you ask me)!

For those cool Wisconsin nights this is a fun idea to keep your guests warm, comfortable, and having a good time!

If your interested in getting a little crafty here is a link to DIY Citronella Candles, these would be a great way to get rid of those annoying mosquitos we dread this time a year, and add a little light when the sun starts to set!

If you use any of these idea’s we would love to see them! Let us know in the comments what your favorite tip was or shoot us a message on facebook with some pictures from your backyard party!

Have fun, and stay safe everyone!
